Cayenne peppers are a type of chilli pepper that belong to the nightshade family of plants, and they are closely related to jalapenos and bell peppers. Cayenne peppers originated in Central and South America and was brought to Europe by Christopher Columbus in the 15th century.

Cayenne pepper is a popular spice used in many regions in various cooking styles, and it has also been used medicinally for thousands of years.

 

Cayenne pepper contains a lot of nutrients like Vit A, Vit C, Vit E, Vit B1, B2, B6 and Vit K. It also contains minerals like folate, manganese, potassium, copper, selenium and many more.

The capsaicin in cayenne pepper increases the amount of heat the body produces causes an increase in metabolism, which in turn makes you burn calories

Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin which is the main active ingredient and it has pain-relieving properties.

When applied topically to the skin in cream form, it helps to reduce the amount of substance P, a protein that signals pain to the brain, and with less substance P, there is less pain.

Capsaicin it's often recommended for joint and muscle pain, making it very important for SCD warriors.

 

     Boost Antioxidant Activity

Cayenne pepper contains antioxidants like Vit C, Vit E, beta carotene, choline, lutein, Zeaxanthin and Cryptoxanthin.

These antioxidants help the body in removing free radicals(toxic substances which can cause harm If there are too many in the body) which can help reduce oxidative stress as it can cause damage to the organs.

 

     Cayenne pepper contains folate.

Folate is a vitamin that is very important for sickle cell patients. Folate helps with the production of red blood cells in the bone marrow. Cayenne pepper helps replace lost red blood cells by increasing the Folic levels in the body.

 

     Anti Inflammatory

Cayenne pepper contains natural compounds called capsaicinoids, which have anti-inflammatory properties and helps reduce swelling in the joints, which in turn reduces pain.

 

SIDE EFFECTS

Cayenne pepper is safe to eat and are very delicious, however eating too much of it can cause side effects like heartburn or cause an allergic reaction in some people.

Cayenne pepper can also interact with medications for high blood pressure, so consult your doctor before using cayenne pepper for medicinal purposes.
