Chlorophyll for Health

We all know that adding green vegetables to our diet makes it much healthier. But what if you could extract that veggie green and consume it as a supplement in powder, drop, juice or capsule form. Well, recently more people have been doing precisely that.

What is Chlorophyll?

Chlorophyll is a substance/pigment that makes plants green in color. Plants use chlorophyll together with sunlight to obtain their nutrients. For health reasons which we will explain below, your body needs chlorophyll and eating green vegetables like alfalfa, spinach, wheatgrass and many more are natural chlorophyll sources besides taking supplements.

Wide-ranging medical studies have suggested that chlorophyll is vital in rendering solutions for several skin conditions, body odors, bad breath, body toxins, certain cancers, intestinal fermentation, inflammation, aging and other illnesses.

The Importance of Chlorophyll for Health include:

Blood-building properties

Chlorophyll promotes the production of red blood cells for the fight against conditions such as leukopenia. Its functions are also similar to hemoglobin, a protein that is important in red blood cells as it helps circulate oxygen around our body.

According to researchers, wheatgrass juice rich in chlorophyll and can help treat hemoglobin deficiency disorders like anemia and thalassemia.

It absorbs toxins

Taking chlorophyll is another way to eradicate symptoms of illnesses that may affect your intestines and the body. Chlorophyll also helps to detox cures.

Chlorophyll acts as an internal deodorant

When it comes to deodorizing your body to mask bad odors from bad breath, sweat, urine, stools, menstruation and odors from food, chlorophyll is also important. The deodorant effect of the substance is also relevant for people that have a colostomy.

Anti-aging remedy

Are you looking for an effective anti-aging remedy? Try chlorophyll. A study found that if you apply a gel containing chlorophyllin to your skin, it can diminish the signs of sun exposure-related aging (photoaging). The study was done on skin samples of 4 healthy women in 12 days.

According to results of the study, skin treated with chlorophyllin improved in the same way like skin treated with tretinoin; an effective prescription skin cream for skin aging. The authors suggest using a combination of chlorophyllin and tretinoin to reverse photoaged skin.

Acne treatment

The potency of topical chlorophyll in treating illnesses also extends to acne treatment.

In one study, a gel containing chlorophyllin was found to help reduce facial acne and huge, visible pores. Each of the 10 participants who completed the study all had mild to moderate facial acne and applied the chlorophyllin gel for 3 weeks.

Chlorophyll regulates intestinal fermentation

Chlorophyll protects your intestines from common infections such as Mycosis(Candida Albicans). These are quite resistant and hard-to-treat infections.  Chlorophyll reduces the production of gas and toxins that develop during digestion. It also helps in protecting the liver while acting as the second line of defence besides the intestinal barrier. Taking enough chlorophyll is one of the best methods to keep detoxing the body.

It has antioxidant capacities

When it comes to antioxidant capacities, chlorophyll is 1000 times superior to xanthins: theophylline, caffeine, theobromine (coffee, tea, chocolate, maté). So, chlorophyll does more than what antioxidants do, such as preventing cancer, eye issues and promoting heart health.

Chlorophyll in all forms is generally safe for you to try if you are interested in its importance to your health. If you are not taking chlorophyll in its original form (via green vegetables), speak to your healthcare provider if you have a health condition and want to take chlorophyll supplements.
