Irish moss (Chondrus cripsus) also know as sea moss is a specie of red algae which grows abundantly along the Rocky parts of the Atlantic coast of Europe and North America. Irish moss is an industrial source of Carrageenan which is commonly used as a thickener and stabiliser in milk products such as ice creams and processed foods.
Sea moss is packed full of essential minerals and nutrients such as magnesium, calcium, vitamins B12 and B2, vitamin C, zinc, iron, iodine and fiber.
Sea moss has been used for medicinal and dietary purposes since there mid 1880s. It possesses antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammation properties that make it beneficial for your health.


BENEFITS OF SEA MOSS

There are many claims to the benefits of sea moss, but scientific research into it is relatively new and scarce. Here a few of what we know so far

1. MAY SUPPORT THYROID HEALTH

sea moss-like most seaweeds are naturally rich in iodine, which our body cannot produce by itself and needs in moderation to produce thyroid hormone. These hormones control the body's metabolism and many other important functions.

Sea moss contains anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral properties and can be used to improve the immune system and prevent diseases like cold and flus.

3. CAN HELP WITH WEIGHT LOSS.
Irish moss is rich in proteins and it especially contains an amino acid call Taurine, which helps the body burn fat and build muscles.
